MORNING LIGHT ACUPUNCTURE

“Health is the greatest posession. Contentment is the greatest treasure.”

- Lao Tzu -

Before graduating from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (a.k.a Acupuncture School), I had picked “Morning Light Acupuncture.”

The name has three sources:

First, in my last year and a half of acupuncture school, I caught the 6:30 a.m. bus into NYC to get to my classes and clinics. Usually, I could watch the sunrise from my window as I prepared to meet the day. The sight provided much-needed encouragement to continue the challenging task of going to school, taking care of my family, and working as an attorney.

Second, both my own experience and that of my patients taught me that night can be the most challenging time for those suffering from chronic pain. Pain both wakes you up and keeps you from sleeping. Anxiety about pain can make you feel like you never sleep through the night. Many people feel a little better and can fall asleep as the sun rises, comforted by the new day.

The third source stems from the second. In most religious belief systems, prayers are recited at the first morning light. We thank the Almighty, the Universe, or the Earth, for giving us the opportunity and privilege of waking to another day in this beautiful world. That’s how I like to think of acupuncture: as giving your body a new day to heal.

Morning Light Acupuncture partners with patients on their health journeys. We treat women’s issues: painful periods, PCOS, symptoms of menopause, the discomforts of pregnancy, chronic and acute pain, insomnia, anxiety, and almost anything else that keeps you from feeling your best.

Treatments

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine practice that involves the insertion of thin needles into specific points on the body. By stimulating these points, acupuncture aims to balance the flow of energy, or qi, within the body, promoting natural healing and alleviating various physical, mental, and emotional conditions.

Facial Acupuncture

Facial acupuncture is a holistic and non-invasive treatment that involves the precise insertion of fine needles into specific points on the face, which aims to stimulate blood circulation, encourage collagen production, and balance energy flow, promoting natural rejuvenation and a more youthful appearance.

Cupping

Cupping is an ancient therapeutic practice where glass or silicone cups are placed on the skin and then suctioned to create a vacuum effect, promoting blood flow, relieves muscle tension, and encouraging the body’s natural healing processes by drawing stagnant energy and toxins to the surface.

Gua Sha

Gua sha is a traditional Chinese healing technique that involves scraping the skin’s surface with a smooth-edged tool to stimulate blood flow, reduce inflammation, and promote the release of stagnant energy, resulting in improved circulation and relief from muscle tension.

Herbal Formulas

As a board-certified herbalist, Morning Light Acupuncture can prescribe Chinese herbal formulas to patients as indicated by the pattern or condition. We only use companies that provide vigorous oversight in the sourcing and manufacturing of their herbal products.
